The Australian International Motor Show is the recognised industry showcase event. Through which vehicle manufacturers choose to display the latest innovations and advances including safety. Environmental and vehicle designs to Australian consumers and motoring enthusiasts alike. The Australian International Motor show (AIMS) is an annual auto show held biennially between Melbourne and Sydney. Both cities have a long running history of motor shows, Melbourne held an annual show from 1925 – 2009 establishing it as Australia’s longest running motor show.
From 2004 the Sydney Motor show adopted the name Australian Motor show. This in respect of the global prestige the show developed, recognised globally in the top ten automotive shows. Prior to the staging of the 2008 Sydney show, the Organisers. The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) met with the Melbourne motor show organisers – the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC). It announced after the culmination of these discussions on February 3rd, 2009 that the FCAI and VACC would partake in a Joint Venture, alternating the show between the two cities. The Australian International Motor show Joint Venture hosted last year in Melbourne. Sydney is hosting the 2012 Australian Motor show.

The Australian Motor Show will expand its presence onto the forecourt of Darling Harbour with over 5,500 square meters of outdoor space solely dedicated to exhibitors and their activities. Thus providing for one of Australia’s largest ever Motor Shows. An impressive 27 brands with vehicles representing almost 95 per cent of the new cars sold thus far in 2012 will exhibit, with many not only debuting new vehicles. But also brand-new stand designs. Show organisers and exhibitors have many more special appearances. And activities scheduled for the remainder of the Show to entertain visitors. “We have appearances from current and past motorsport legends on multiple stands. Activities to entertain the whole family as well as many interactive features including the Ford Smart Drive Experience. And the Toyota Tech Table and Safety Simulator and much more.”
