Founded: September 26, 1947
Objectives:
To contribute to the development of the industry and economy of our country, and improvement of national life, JATMA.
- Conducts research on production, distribution, consumption and trade of the automobile tyres (automobile tyres, off the road tyres, Industrial tyres, tyres for agricultural tractors and machines, etc.)
- Plan policies concerning safety and environmental preservation and promote them.
Activities:
- Survey of the demand trends of automobile tyres, provision of various statistical data, and research on physical distribution.
- Promotion of public relations on safety such as proper use and appropriate maintenance of tyres including air pressure control.
- Tyre inspections on roads and highways
- Inspections and judgments of damaged tyres, consumer consultation, and cooperation with judicial branches, police, etc. when requested in investigation and identification of tyres.
- Comprehensive promotion of 3R (reduce, reuse and recycling), and participation in measures against global warming and in life cycle assessment, aiming for the recycling society.
- Research on and participation in environment-related issues such as environmental load materials and tyre/road noise.
- Dealing with affairs concerning the tyre recall system and its publicity.
- Publication of JATMA Year Book (standards for automobile tyres).
- Affairs responding to each country’s safety regulation and certification system.
- Discussion and communication with international organs, foreign governments and tyre-related organizations concerning harmonization of safety regulations.
- Research on various themes related to intellectual property.
- Operation of “Tyre Labeling System” and promotion and dissemination of fuel efficient tyres.

Japan Light Alloy Wheel Association, while maintaining close contact with our member companies, carries out research and technical studies concerning the manufacture, marketing and distribution of automotive light alloy wheels. These activities also include market and technical research aimed at developing new demand for industry products plus many other related activities.
To achieve these objectives, JAWA aims to improve quality of Automobile Light Alloy Wheel and promotes liability of our product in the.

- In order to maintain safety standards, supports the JAWAand JAWA-T and technical standard and promotes, JLAW – VIA Registration System.

(VEHICLE INSPECTION ASSOSIATION) Registration System :
VIA marking can only be engraved on the wheel is registered by
Japan Light Alloy Automotive Wheel Testing Council after strict quality tests by the authorized testing facility . - To establish the order of wheel design in our industry, promotes Voluntary Wheel Design Protection Registration System.
- JAWA is also lending its support to the efforts to find solutions to material recycling system.

To ensure the safety of automobile light alloy wheels, the council carries out tests to determine whether or not they comply with “the technical standard for Light Alloy Disc Wheels for Passenger Cars (JWL)” approved by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport or “the technical standards for Light Alloy Disc Wheels for Trucks and Buses (JWL-T)” approved by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, thus contributing to consumer protection.
