Introducing 20 years of Hybrid Technology from the birth of the Prius. Toyota Motor Corporation announces its participation at Automobile Council 2017, an event to held over the course of 3 days from August 4 (Friday) to August 6 (Sunday) at Makuhari Messe (Mihama-ku, Chiba City). In keeping with the theme of the “20-Year Anniversary of the Prius“, Toyota will introduce key highlights of the development of the first generation Prius, as well as the Prius’s impact on society, alongside a storied history of the different sources of power used in automobiles. The Prius the first hybrid ever made by Toyota and regarded as the best selling hybrid in the world. Although it first launched in Japan in 1997, the Prius was officially introduced worldwide in 2001.

Toyota Prius Generation:
The first generation Prius and the new Prius PHV. A leading car in the Prius series. Toyota will exhibit the “Toyota Sports 800 Gas Turbine Hybrid” concept vehicle. That displayed at the 1977 Tokyo Motor Show, and the “TOYOTA GAZOO Racing TS050 HYBRID,” which races in extreme endurance races.

“The First-generation Prius hybrid represented a practical way of lowering the environmental impact of the automobile”. The first-generation Prius was a surprising success early on, selling as many as Toyota could build. It managed to maintain its popularity all the way until the next-generation product. The goal was for the Second-generation Prius to reach mainstream acceptance. And eventually become a halo vehicle for the Toyota brand. Looking back, it’s easy to place a checkmark next to those milestones.




The Third–generation Prius also featured a remotely operated air-conditioning system. So drivers can set the interior temperatures before getting in the car. It used low-energy LEDs on its head and tail lights, helping to keep energy consumption down and MPG high. For the 2016 model year, Toyota introduces its Fourth-generation Prius and shows off what over 15 years of experience in the hybrid market has taught the automaker. Like the jump between the second and third generation models. The 2016 Toyota Prius Hybrid will look to be about 10-percent more fuel efficient.
Prius PHV:
With the new Prius PHV, Toyota has greatly advanced on the environmental performance that is characteristic of the Prius lineup, along with the powerful and smooth drive which is an attribute of an electric vehicle (EV). Futuristic advanced equipment has added and charging convenience greatly improved, thus evolving the new Prius PHV into a prime vehicle. Also, in January 2012, Toyota launched the Prius PHV with the goal of promoting vehicle electrification. The rear design is a distinctive feature of the Prius PHV, which includes the “double-bubble” glass in the rear window. High-mount brake lights connected by a single red line, and rear combination lamps.
