GKD Sports Cars is a small volume car manufacturer. It was based in Boughton Monchelsea, near Maidstone, Kent, with workshops at Lenham. It was founded in 2006. GKD Sports Cars manufacture two models, the GKD Evolution and the GKD Legend.
History
GKD Sports Cars was established in 2006 when company MD Peter Lathrope bought the Ginetta G27 project. The car was then revised to improve aerodynamics and styling. The company won car of the year 2006 from Which Kit Car magazine with the Evolution. This included winning 5 out of 7 categories in the competition.
The company introduced two new models in 2008, with the Evolution being upgraded to use BMW 3 Series (E36/E46) running gear and then introducing a new model, the GKD Legend at the Exeter Kit Car Show in November. This received a very warm welcome with the press and public. As both cars are the first mainstream kit cars to use BMW 3 Series E36/E46 running gear.
Services
GKD supplying and manufacturing the Evolution and the Legend. GKD also delivers Racelogic traction control, alloy wheels and tuning parts. Also, GKD Sports Cars also completes part manufacture projects, put cars in for the IVA test and tune and complete engine conversions for BMW road cars.
Because of the Evolution’s background, GKD introduced the first production hard top for the Ginetta G27. GKD also delivers upgrades and parts for the Ginetta G27.

EVOLUTION

The EVOLUTION is a lightweight, high performance and practical modern styled two seat sports car. It is a award winning sports car. It utilises the proven mechanicals of the BMW 3-series. With its DNA rooted in over 50 years of motorsport. This roadster is the ideal high performance sports cars for the 21st Century. The EVOLUTION features race proven independent suspension based on uprights and double wishbones built specifically for the car. Adjustable coil-over dampers used front and rear, so that ride settings can tuned to a driver’s individual needs.
LEGEND

The LEGEND is a lightweight two seat clubman style sportscar. It include with a front mid-mounted engine, rear wheel drive and a suspension geometry developed from over 50 years of motorsport. By combining proven, modern and affordable mechanical components from the BMW 3-series with timeless clubman styling, GKD has constructed quality, high performance and low cost sports cars that supplies pure back-to-basics motoring that represents the ethos of ‘performance through lightweight’.
