BMW X5 vs Audi SQ5

BMW X5 vs Audi SQ5: The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV manufactured by BMW. The X5 earned its introduction in 1998 as the E53 model. It was BMW‘s first SUV and it also highlighted all-wheel drive and was prepared with either automatic or manual transmission. In 2006, the second generation X5 was begun, recognized internally as the E70. A facelift of the E53, the E70 also highlighted the torque-split proficient xDrive all-wheel-drive system mated to an automatic transmission. In 2009, the X5 M performance modification was issued as a 2010 model.

The Audi SQ5 is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured by the German luxury vehicle producer Audi from 2008. The initial first-generation (Typ 8R) model was the third segment of the B8 family to be issued after the Audi A5 and fourth-generation A4, all being based on the Audi MLB platform. The second-generation Q5 (Typ 80A) debuted in 2016 and shares the Audi MLB Evo platform with the similar B9 variants of the A4 and A5.

Let’s start the comparison of the BMW X5 vs Audi SQ5 and find out what these Vehicles have to offer as well as where they compete with each other in various aspects you are going to find below.

BMW X5 vs Audi SQ5: Overview

Overview of BMW X5

It was first introduced and appeared in the market in the year 1999. It is the first SUV under this brand. When the second generation was launched, it was X5 together with improvements including an all-wheel-drive system and also an automatic transmission.

It continued its production till 2006. The third-generation model started its production in the year 2013 till 2018. It undergoes a number of improvements and imbibing the latest technology features.

Overview of Audi SQ5

If the conventional Q5 isn’t strong enough or sporty enough, Audi has an SUV that just might satisfy: the SQ5. There’s also a fresh Sportback version that gives a more smart look. Like its four-cylinder Q5 stablemate, the SQ5 gives a high-tech and feature-rich cabin, elegant styling, and polished street styles.

Only this one begins with a lot more power below its bonnet: a 349-hp turbocharged V-6. Notwithstanding its added oomph, the SQ5 is underpowered when related to competitors such as the BMW X3 M, the Porsche Macan Turbo, and the Mercedes-AMG GLC-Class. Neither is the SQ5 as fresh and fast on a twisty path as those powerhouses. The silver filling is that the Audi gives more drive comfort, which may interest customers who favor comfort over best cornering grip.

BMW X5 vs Audi SQ5: Interior

The BMW X5 is a 5 door, 5 seater SUV, one of the best luxury cars; it is inclusive of big interiors having big space and is enough to carry five tall adults comfortably. The interior of the BMW X5 has a variety of features.

It also includes a convenient 10-way adjustable front seats. Moreover, the driver seat has many features such as lumbar support, heated seats and it’s available in leather.

Some of the interiors also include a built-in system monitor, navigation system and smart device integration system, front and rear cupholders, power control for the tailgate, sunroof and all power windows.

Like any other BMW, this model also has a cockpit a driver-centric affair, combining such features with easy reach. Apart from it, it also has a telescopic steering wheel as well as a useful footrest. It is also available with an automatic transmission.

The SQ5’s outside maybe a little boring unless you opt for the more sensual Sportback body style. But inside, both come standard with sculpted sport seats and their possible quilted leather covers give no uncertainty as to this crossover’s upscale purposes. Heated, power-adjustable front seats are standard in every SQ5, as are three-zone automatic climate control and Audi’s functional, beautiful design. Other support will cost more and can add heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and added leather trim for the front row.

Space:

We suit the very six bags into the SQ5’s 27-cubic-foot baggage area as we did in the Macan’s 18-cubic-foot baggage section. Request that an important issue for the Macan or a frustrating one for the SQ5, but either way, it sets the Audi near the back of its kind for real-world carrying capacity. The Sportback modification decreases room space behind the rear seats by 3 cubes (25 total), and wrapping them flat begins up 52 dies of cargo volume.

When you view the 2020 BMW X5, the small size of the kidney bean-style grille may catch your eye. The lower front fascia is robust, and its mesh grille and small series of rounded fog lights add to its overall design. Integrated roof rails, LED headlights and a power tailgate are some of the X5’s exterior equipment.

The SQ5’s exterior highlights LED lighting at each end, but the top Prestige model dresses Matrix-design LED headlights and OLED taillights that perform a cool ‘wake up pattern’ when you unlock it. Whichever alternative you opt for, 20-inch wheels are standard, while 21s are voluntary and continue to the SQ5’s curb attraction. A scenic sunroof is also possible, while various brushed aluminum-look emphases serve this stands out as the sporty model. A quad-exit exhaust system is complemented by a faux diffuser, while a complex roof spoiler and narrow roof rails support the functional vibe of the SUV with its sporty DNA.

Dimensions:

The dimensions of the Audi SQ5 SUV are only somewhat improved for the 2021 model, with lengths extending from 183.9 inches to 184.3. The wheelbase is now 111 inches on the dot, while the height is measured at 65.5 inches. Width, excluding the mirrors, is 74.5 inches, while curb weight begins at 4,288 pounds. Ground clearance is estimated at 8.2 inches, but a possible adaptive air suspension system can adjust this rating.

BMW X5 vs Audi SQ5: Engine

The 2020 X5 from BMW has a similar powertrain design, and it provides you with 335 horsepower. It also outfitted with eco start-stop and 8-speed automatic transmission.

Audi SQ5: Engine
Engine of Audi SQ5

The SQ5 holds items simple with one powertrain. Audi’s deep turbocharged V-6 gives good power and standard Quattro all-wheel-drive places that power to the drive. This dynamic pair is let down infrequently by its eight-speed automatic transmission, which can be reluctant to switch gears and sometimes works up syrupy turns. The SQ5’s 5.1-second zero-to-60-mph run is accurately swift, but it’s not truly as quick as the 4.3 seconds of the GLC43.

Steering:

With its sharp, solid steering, there’s lots of joy to be had throwing the SQ5 through the twisties, particularly if provided, as our analysis vehicle was, with the voluntary torque-vectoring rear differential. Even entry-level SQ5s have a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system that can direct up to 85 percent of the possible torque to the rear wheels.

Comfortable Ride:

The SQ5 drive is easy—a blessing in this class—but a little too simple for genuine performance driving. We assume that most customers in this section would be utterly happy with the SQ5’s straight-line speed and its pothole-vanquishing drive, but strong buyers should hold with the 10Best-winning Porsche Macan.

BMW X5 vs Audi SQ5: Safety

Safety in BMW X5

The 2020 BMW X5 may be equipped with safety gear such as LED fog lights, anti-locking brakes, adaptive brake lights, a rearview camera, active driving assistant, a seatbelt warning, 3-point seatbelts, and a few additional features.

Safety in Audi SQ5

Thus far, the NHTSA has not yet adequately assessed the 2021 SQ5, although it did obtain four stars in its rollover analysis. The standard Q5 possesses an overall record of five stars in the NHTSA investigation, though. The IIHS does not still have an Audi SQ5 review, but the general Q5 got the best overall rates likely of Good.

Features:

Standard safety highlights for the SQ5 add the obligatory rearview camera and six Airbags, although these can be extended by further side airbags for the rear. Other standard safety highlights incorporate front and rear parking sensors, city forward collision detection and autonomous braking, rear collision mitigation, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and hill descent control. Possible upgrades introduce lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera, Matrix-design LED headlights and a head-up display with traffic sign identification.

BMW X5 vs Audi SQ5: Fuel Efficiency

The BMW X5

If you look at the fuel efficiency, BMW X5 is more efficient but the tank is smaller in comparison to the Mercedes Benz ML class. If you drive in areas where roads are in bad condition, you can prefer the ML class all-wheel-drive capabilities as opposed to the X5’s rear-wheel drive.

The Audi SQ5

According to the EPA’s formal evaluation, the 2021 SQ5 will deliver 18/24/20 mpg on the city/highway/combined cycles. Since it is provided with an 18.5-gallon gas tank, the combined driving range is expected to be around 370 miles. By contrast, the BMW X3 M40i will maintain gas mileage numbers of 21/27/23 mpg on the very cycles. The latter SUV has a 17.2-gallon tank, and will probably deliver a combined range of around 395 miles. Interestingly, Audi gives a plug-in Hybrid modification of the Q5 that gives more power than the SQ5. If fuel economy is the chief concern, we say go for the hybrid.
