The Hino Dutro is a light-duty commercial truck produced by Hino Motors. The Hino Dutro is built on the U300 platform for the standard cab, or the U400 platform for the wide cab and offered in many different chassis types suitable for different purposes. So, the Hino Dutro took over from the earlier Ranger 2 (and Ranger 3), a badge-engineered version of the Daihatsu Delta series. Outside of Japan, it is also known as the ‘300 series’. Also, the Hino Dutro truck is pretty flexible and can be configured in a wide range of body configurations. However, the Hino Dutro features a classical cab over engine configuration which is better suited for driving around town as it offers better maneuverability than a conventional cab design.
The Hino Dutro trucks are imported from Japan completely assembled. The Hino Dutro truck is almost identical to Toyota’s Toyoace/Dyna. Like its Toyota twin, the Hino Dutro is a light/medium cab-over truck. Nearly all models are powered by a diesel engine paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or automatic transmission. One of the main features of the Hino Dutro truck is the broad range of configurations available for the cargo area. These configurations include flat-bad, truck (hydraulic powered), fridge/freezer, container, and many more.
Generations of Hino Dutro Trucks
First Generation (1999–2011)
A wide range of Hino Dutro variants is offered in Japan, including the Wide Cab, Double Cab, hybrid electric, four-wheel-drive (4WD). Engine choices include the 3.7 liters 4B, 4.1 liters 15B-FTE, 4.0 liter N04C, 4.6 liter S05C, 4.7 liter J05D, 4.8 liter S05D, and 5.3 liter J05C. The previous generation was sold between 2005 and 2010 and came with a sharper style, a series of modern features, and a stronger engine. Equipped with a 3.0-liter engine, the old Hino Dutro truck had a maximum payload capacity of up to 1.5 tonnes.
In 2005:- The Hino Dutro truck model came with a pretty curvy design and a set of horizontal headlights which enhance the cab’s width. Though, the old radiator grille looked pretty fade, while the simple spoiler was not something to rave about either. The body panels of Hino Dutro seemed pretty solid and the exterior fittings were well made, as well. The Hino Dutro truck was also built using a strong U-shaped frame chassis that is ready to endure the abuse of heavy loads without whining and also comes with a superior treatment. The cabin was fitted with a wide, panoramic windscreen and a set of generous lateral windows which offer excellent outward visibility.
Second Generation (2011–present)
In 2011:- Many of the Hino Dutro trucks are built in Japanese plants, although some units are assembled in other countries. Also, the more appreciable changes are the engine (accomplishment with the EURO IV/V/VI standard), a new facelift made by Toyota, and more and new improved equipment on board.
