Nissan Silvia

Nissan Silvia JDM C 1993 - 1999

In 1993, the model changed with the same concept in mind; However, the Sylvia’s sixth generation had a wider body that held up to foreign demands. This modification changed the vehicle category in Japan from a 5-series to a 3-series (the ‘5-series’ is smaller in size and displacement than the ‘3-series’) due to the larger body size and new soft styling design. , it could not be as popular as the previous generation. In the latter part of the model year, hasty modifications were made such as changing the shape of the front knot to make it appear sharper although this was unsuccessful in the Japanese market.

To gain popularity, the 7th generation of the Silvia, released in 1999, was scaled down and reinstated in the 5-series. The design turns out to be sharp as it is a pure sports car. 2 L DOHC turbo output 250PS, 6-speed MT was set, and the A-pillar has a boost gauge; All those power settings and accessories appealed to the street racers.

To provide for users who prefer European high-end style, the Silvia Varietta, the Japanese first retractable hardtop convertible, was released the following year. VARIETTA had such an elegant and elaborate style, however, the bubble economy severely damaged the coupe market in Japan, and sales became extremely difficult for young people. In addition, the 2-door coupe market in North America was destroyed due to rising insurance premiums. Those economic conditions hindered product development of personal cars for young people in the global market.

The S14 Silvia JDM Car made its debut in Japan in late 1993. It was lower and wider than the S13. The new rounded styling helped create the illusion of a significantly larger size than it actually happened. Both the wheelbase and track width have been increased and handling has been slightly improved.

In contrast to the export market, where sales of the S14 chassis stagnated, Silvia continued to be popular in Japan.

As the width dimension exceeded 1,700 mm (67 inches), this generation was out of the compact class tax system and Japanese buyers were liable for higher road taxes. At that time, sales of the S14 were sluggish as purchasers of special vehicles switched to mobile homes and SUVs.

Equipped with the RB20DET NEO and combined with a 5-speed gearbox, the R34 GT has become the most fuel-efficient in-line 6-cylinder skyline ever. The 4-speed automatic transmission available on some models has been maintained and upgraded with Tiptronic-style manual control.

Interior Features:

Fastback and convertible bodies have been discontinued internationally and only the coupe was produced. The trim level specification was similar to S13, but the club selection package was removed. An “aero” variant of Q and K was offered, featuring large rear wings and a gentle ground effect.  Fastback and convertible bodies have been discontinued internationally and only the coupe was produced. Exterior Features:

In 1996, the S14’s styling was slightly updated to add aggressive looking projector headlights and colored tail lights to all models. The older version is known as zenki. Fascia and other exterior trim pieces have also been revised. Turbochargers now use a more efficient ball bearing center section. This updated version is also known by enthusiasts as the Kouki S14 or S14A.

Export Market:

In North America, it was sold as a 2nd generation 240SX equipped with a non-turbo KA24DE engine from 1995 to 1998. The last model year for S14 production in all markets was 1999, the so-called touring model. It had a better engine block, better pistons, and better acceleration in lower gear.
